The soccer team I played for had its matches the same time as training so I never got around to it. The season is over but I have to study for college exams. As soon as the exams are out of the way Ill go and take it up.

When Jigoro Kano sent out his best students to spread judo around the world they went to many places and taught the wrestlers of many nations how to grapple. Russia spawned sambo, South America spawned Brazilian Jiu-jitsu, Korea kept the same name till I think it was in the 70's they changed it to Yudo. The art is still adaptable to judo sport. But is taught as combat theory. Basically when it went to Korea they studied Kano Jujutsu which is more evolved then sport. Theories are not for gental randori but for combat. So when Japan and Korea go against each other. Japan which should be the best at their own art have diluted it much like America has as well with making many techniques illegal in the system. The Korean's still practice what they were originally taught and basically just said it was their system since Japan wanted to change. So when all the reforms happened, Korea maintained combat mentality. Korea's sport art would be Tae Kwon Do to compete with karate mentality of quick powerful strike, their grappling art is yudo called korean judo before that what was kano jujutsu when they studied it, their combat art is Hapkido which is like a mixed martial art but the Koreans teach EVERYTHING for combat. Which comes down to a honor thing and what not. Weirdness.

Ive only competed in Kenpo tourneys. I have won a few and finished third in a world championship. They are points sparring, so I know it isnt effective for fighting. In the club its continuous so it has more practical benefits. In the sub wrestling place I used to train I gave their main guy trouble in the stand up but he was preparing for a fight so he was being fish baited (he was a bit tired by the time I fought him though). I am considering doing thai boxing or full contact kickboxing, so I can improve my stand up game. If you dont evolve you become extinct.
